Oh who cares, it’s just good fun.
For those seeking the thrill of terror, the Haunted Corn Maze at Little River Farms in Resaca might provide just what they’re look for.
The maze, which is sponsored by local FFA chapters in Gordon County Schools along with the Gordon Central Science Club, opens at 8 p.m. on Oct. 5.
The maze will be open from 8 p.m. to 10:30 every Friday and Saturday through Oct. and from 8 to 10 on Halloween Night, which falls on a Wednesday this year.
Cost is $12 per person and children 8-years and younger get in for $8.
The maze is located at 669 Nickelsville Road in Resaca.
“I just always wanted to do this,” said Marisa Poarch, owner of the 17-ace Little River Farms. “I got the FFA to team up with me. They do the haunting and I do most everything else.”
Poarch, who said she has hosted the event for about 8-years, spends roughly six weeks in preparation for opening night.
Doing everything from finding props to designing the maze, the event keeps her pretty busy.
“We put out lights and props, different scenes,” she said. “It has hauntings from the barn to the corn maze. You walk over two ridges and back. It’s about three quarters of a mile long.”
Poarch and her staff will also provide a rather large movie screen showing nothing but horror movies while people wait their turns to be scared out of their minds, she said.
“People really get scared and love it,” she said.
The maze incorporates all things horror, from traditional terrors like the werewolf and the headless horseman, to more recent villains like the psychopathic doll Chucky.
