Monroe struck out eight of her 15 batters faced in the five-inning perfect game. The senior got plenty of run support to help the cause as Reinhardt scored four times in the second inning to pull away. Floyd connected for her first homer of the day to lead off the second. With the bases loaded and no one out, Kandi Gates grounded out to second to drive in Kaley Garmon to give Reinhardt its second run. One batter later, Audrie Pryor doubled to left, scoring Gates and Shelby Sinclair to give Reinhardt (22-3) its third and fourth runs of the frame.
Katie Blair would come home to score in the fourth on a single to center by Tyler Sampson. Reinhardt would then take advantage of a Truett-McConnell error as Gates would score after a miscue at short on Sampson’s steal of second, making the score 6-0.
The Lady Eagles closed out the scoring in the fifth inning. Floyd led off the frame with her second homer of the game. After a walk, pinch hitter Callie Ann Poole homered to left, bringing home pinch runner Jayde Crowe and giving the Lady Eagles an insurmountable, 9-0 lead.
Monroe would need only 61 pitches to earn her 12th win of the season. The Calhoun native threw first-pitch strikes to 11 of the 15 batters faced in pitching her fifth shutout in six games. It also marked the second time that Monroe has no-hit TMC this season.
In game two, Reinhardt flexed its offensive muscle again, scoring 11 runs in the victory.
Much like the first game, the scoring started in the second. With runners on first and second, Blair singled to left, scoring Garmon to begin the march to home plate for the Lady Eagles. An infield hit by Gates would bring Sinclair home one batter later, giving Reinhardt a 2-0 edge. With two out, Alexis Chumbler would reach on an error, bringing home Blair with Reinhardt’s third run of the game
Truett-McConnell got on the board with a run in the bottom of the second, but the Lady Eagles added seven runs to the scoreboard in the fourth. A Blair double scored Sinclair to start the scoring in the inning. One batter later, a single to left by Gates brought Blair in to put Reinhardt on top, 5-1. After an error loaded the bases, game two starting pitcher Haley Brannon grounded out to second, scoring pinch runner Amber Herrington and putting moving runners to second and third.
That would set the stage for Floyd. On a 1-0 pitch, Floyd connected for a three-run home run, scoring Sampson and Chumbler to give Reinhardt the lead, 9-1. Garmon decided to get in on the long ball act in the next at bat, connecting on a 3-1 pitch for a solo homer to center to score the 10th run of the game for the Lady Eagles.
Reinhardt would add one more run to the total in the fifth inning. Crowe swung at the first pitch she saw and connected for a two-out solo homer over the wall in center, giving the Lady Eagles the lead, 11-1. TMC would score one run in the fifth, but Brannon got out of a bases loaded jam with no further damage done, giving Reinhardt the, 11-2, win.
