Several former local football stars from Calhoun, Gordon Central and Sonoraville have moved on to play at the college level. Each week, the Calhoun Times will recap how those former local players did in their respective games.

Listed below are the players that appeared in the box score from their teams’ games in Week 3 of the college season:

McGowan saw time on special teams and some on offense in the Bulldogs’ 56-20 win over Florida Atlantic.

His highlight of the night was a 23-yard punt return in the fourth quarter.

Ty Frix, UGA

Frix once again handled all snapping duties for the Bulldogs and helped kicker Marshall Morgan go 8-for-8 on extra points.

Josh White, Shorter

Calhoun alum

White was the leading tackler for the Hawks last Saturday as they rallied in the second half to defeat Chowan, 28-17, on the road.

The junior had two solo tackles and seven assists for a total of nine to go along with a tackle for loss.

Niagel Curtis, West Georgia

Gordon Central alum

Curtis, a sophomore, had a tackle in the Wolves 44-37 loss to Miles College last Saturday.

Tre Lamb, Tennessee Tech

Lamb and the Golden Eagles had a tough time against Oregon in a 63-14 loss. The senior completed 8-of-13 passes for 46 yards, one TD and one interception. His touchdown pass was to former Calhoun standout Da'Rick Rogers.

Adam Urbano, Tennessee Tech

Calhoun alum

Urbano was held in check by Oregon as he rushed for 32 yards on 14 carries in the loss to the Ducks in Eugene.

Da’Rick, Tennessee Tech

Calhoun alum

Rogers caught a touchdown pass in his third straight game for the Golden Eagles and finished with three catches for 38 yards in a loss to Oregon.

CJ Bell, Tusculum

Gordon Central alum

Bell, a true freshman, saw his first action of the season on Saturday and recorded a tackle in Tusculum’s 33-21 win over North Greenville.

NOTE: If we left out a former local player that made an impact for his team this past Saturday, please send that player’s name, school, year and position to Sports Editor Alex Farrer at afarrer@calhountimes.com.
