A two-car collision claimed the life of one victim Saturday evening on Laurel Creek Rd. in Calhoun, according to Calhoun City Police.

Kenny Owen Jr., 19, of Calhoun was pronounced dead at Gordon Hospital at 9:07 p.m. from injuries sustained in the collision.

According to reports, a 2013 Dodge charger was traveling east bound on Laurel Creek Rd. and lost control of the vehicle, before crossing into the westbound lane striking a 2011 Jeep Wrangler.

Owen was one of three passengers in the Charger and was the only fatality, however one other passenger was treated at Gordon Hospital and released.

Calhoun City Police received the call at 8:19 p.m. Saturday evening and officers arrived on the scene at 8:23 p.m.

No charges have currently been filed, however due to the circumstances involving a fatality, Calhoun City Lieutenant Tony Pyle says charges may be expected.

More information will be released as officers continue their investigation.
