A Gordon County man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly beating a 72-year-old woman.

James Earle, 52, of Calhoun was taken into custody by Gordon County sheriff’s deputies on Nov. 10 after deputies received a domestic violence report.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a 72-year-old woman who appeared to have been beaten about the head and face.

Earle attempted to elude arrest by locking himself in the bathroom, but was quickly apprehended.

Both Earle and the victim were taken to Gordon Hospital. Earle is believed to have taken an overdose of medication.

Earle was released and taken to the Gordon County jail where he was charged with false impris-onment, battery and simple battery.
