The Yellow Jackets took their undefeated season into the tournament and came out again on top, winning by 13 strokes.
“I’m extremely proud of the guys and the way they played this year,” said Calhoun Head Golf Coach Roger Gresham. He went on to say that he was impressed that his team went out and didn’t even break 50.
Leading the way for Calhoun was low medalist Austin Cherry who shot a 9-hole score of 40. Teammates Caleb Hayes finished four strokes behind with a 44 and Brock Stewart shot a 47. Patrick Box, Jordan Pratt, and Hunter Norman tied with 48 a piece
“I’m proud of Austin for winning and being the low medalist,” said Gresham. “I’m proud of the whole team.”
The Ashworth Warriors came in a close third place finishing only three strokes behind Cartersville who placed second in the tournament. The low medalist for the Warriors was Mason Miles who ended his season with a round of 45. Teammates Seth Culpepper and Turner Seymore were tied four stokes back with a 49 and Jonathon Nesbitt finished with a 52 round.
Ashworth Head Golf Coach Melanie Moore is proud of the way her team played this season and in the tournament.
“We, the coaches, are extremely proud of the season our boys and girls produced,” said Moore. “They are the most improved team I’ve ever coached in golf.”
The Sonoraville Phoenix finished last in the tournament, but golfer Justin Jones finished strong. Jones was the Phoenix’s low medalist with a solid round of 52. He was followed by teammate Lane Strickland who shot a 55 and John David Potts who had a 57. Tristan Key and Landon Sanderson tied with a score of 58 for the Phoenix.
