This year, the Boy Scouts honored an outstanding Gordon County citizen, Mr. Phil Robbins, as “Distinguished Citizen of the Year” for his unselfish service and devotion to the youth and people of Gordon County.
Gordon County Schools Superintendent Bill McCown was the guest speaker at the event.
The inaugural Calhoun-Gordon County Patron Lunch, a fundraising event for the Boy Scouts, was organized by a committee of 18 local community leaders and had over 80 attendees.
“Scouting is alive and well in Gordon County,” said Patron Lunch Chairman Allan Gilreath. “This was a great day to not only honor an outstanding member of our community and raise needed funds, but to share all the good things Scouting is doing in our community as well.”
