Audience decides on Elvis shows

In a competition hosted by the Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, voters have cast their ballots to choose the movies that will play at the GEM Theatre as it helps Calhoun, Gordon County celebrate, “The King.”

As part of the festivities visitors to the Harris Arts Center’s website would allow for a chance to cast a vote for the four movies to air on the GEM Theatre’s big screen.

The four movies that will play through the week of August 21 – 25 in celebration of Elvis, are Blue Hawaii, Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.; King Creole, Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m.; Viva Las Vegas, Friday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.; and Wild in the Country, Friday, Aug. 24 at 8 p.m.

Movie tickets are $5 per movie or $8 for both movies on Friday, ages six and under are free. Purchase tickets at the GEM Box Office. Hours are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 3-6 p.m.

The week long celebration of “The King,” will end with a live performance by Elvis tribute artist, Stephen Freeman on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. at the GEM Theatre.
