Prevent Child Abuse Gordon County is hosting “An Evening of Love and Laughter,” to raise funds as vital government funding is coming to an end in 2013.

Prevent Child Abuse Gordon/Family Resource Center was awarded a three-year $750,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Children and Families beginning in 2011. Unfortunately at the end of 2013, that grant funding will end. We are hoping to raise funds through this event to help support the continuation of programs that offer education, encouragement and empowerment to families in Gordon County.

A live auction including local entertainment will be featured at the event on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Harris Arts Center.

Auction include but are not limited to four Disney World one-day “hopper passes,” a Wilderness retreat in the Smokies, a St. Thomas Vacation package for two, and two badges to any one day of the Masters Golf Tournament, a Round of Golf at Barnsley Gardens, one of a kind jewelry and photography, popular sports memorabilia, athletic passes to local high schools, tickets to Rock City, Zoo Atlanta, the Alliance Theater, the Atlanta Hawks, a Magnolia Spa package and much more. A complete list of the live auction items will be available the evening of the event.

Opening the event will be comedian Michelle Miller Harrington. Michelle was born in a small town in North Carolina where she made others laugh as soon as she could talk. Michelle’s talent has taken her around the world but her southern roots still remain strong. She has been featured on Fox and CBS and on radio stations across the country for her comedic style.

In 2011, Michelle was featured on the New Comedy Revolution DVD, and voted one of America’s funniest comedians.

Additionally three local young pianists will entertain participants throughout the evening while mingling with friends, viewing and bidding on silent auction items and filling up on delicious selections from the buffet.

Call 706-625-3311 for more information on all the items or to purchase tickets for the event.
