“Girl Rising” to Premiere at the GEM

The GEM Theatre has been selected to premiere the groundbreaking film “Girl Rising” on Thursday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. The movie is being screened in Calhoun thanks to the community’s overwhelming interest and support.

“Girl Rising” is a feature film and social action campaign, created and launched by an award- winning team of former ABC News journalists in association with The Documentary Group and Paul Allen’s Vulcan Productions. The power of storytelling and the leverage of strategic partnerships are used to deliver a single message: educating girls in developing nations will change the world.

“Girl Rising” is directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins. It tells the stories of 9 extraordinary girls from 9 countries, written by 9 celebrated writers and narrated by 9 renowned actors, including Meryl Streep, Liam Neeson, Selma Hayek, Cate Blanchette, Kerry Washington, Alicia Keys, and Selena Gomez.
