After nearly 10 years of planning, fundraising and restoring, Calhoun’s GEM Theatre is reopening this month.

“Funniest Man In America” James Gregory will be the first to take the GEM stage on Saturday, August 27 at 7 p.m.

James Gregory has been performing homespun comedy to sold-out crowds for more than 25 years. Delivering common-sense wisdom, old-fashioned values and politically incorrect humor, Gregory is known for inspiring fanatic devotion; whether it’s the first or 15th time you’ve seen him.

Tickets for the first six rows are $30 and all others are $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Calhoun-Gordon County Chamber, Fitness First of Calhoun, Red Door Cafe’ and online at www.calhoungem.org.

The original GEM is best remembered as a movie theatre, but the renovated 460 seat GEM will showcase a variety of entertainment, including concerts, plays, traveling productions and classic movies.

Most importantly, the GEM will be the community’s theatre, available to schools, organizations, businesses and individuals.

Don’t miss the first show in the restored GEM Theatre and mark your calendar for these upcoming events: Dance party with the Buckner Brothers & The Rockingbirds bands, September 17; GEM grand opening gala featuring classic movies & Ronnie McDowell show October 15; Motown & More with Maxwell Taylor November 19.

For more information and a complete calendar of GEM events visit www.calhoungem.org. or call (706) 296-7103.

Make plans to visit Calhoun’s newest attraction and see the grandeur for yourself.
