A Gordon County resident was given the chance to answer the question that plagues the minds of racing enthusiast; which is faster American muscle cars or imports?

Eddie Keys, a.k.a. The Resaca Rattlesnake recently embarked on a journey that pitted him against imported car enthusiast on a show called “R U Faster than a Redneck.”

Keys heard about the show needing cast members on car forums online and decided since he has always been a fan of American muscle cars he would give it a shot and try to get on the show.

He sent in a picture and a write up about himself and then he got a call from the producers who told Keys he needed to put a promo video on Youtube. After he went through all the required steps he got a call letting him know he had been selected.

The filming lasted for lasted nine days and was held at the Carolina Motor Sports Park in South Carolina during April of last year.

“It was a lot of work. We started every morning at 6:30 a.m. and filmed until 7 p.m. sometimes 8 p.m.,” Keys said.

Keys appears on the show as a one of the “rednecks” and drives his 440 horse power 2012 Boss 302 Mustang.

“I am the Resaca Rattlesnake, American muscle car driven by American muscle,” Keys said in his promo video on Youtube.

The import drivers on the show have a chance to win $10,000 but first have to pick the “rednecks” they want to compete with in a three-lap race.

“You put the Resaca rattlesnake on the track those imports are going to get bit,” Keys said in his promo video. “Good luck trying to find someone that wants to get on the track with me.”

If the show does well and he has a chance Keys plans on being apart of it again.

“It was a great experience,” Keys said. “I had a lot of fun. The racing was intense and real. There were a few wrecks but no one got injured.”

To watch Keys promo video, search for “Resaca Rattlesnake” on Youtube. “R U Faster than a Redneck” premiers on SPEED Friday, February 22 and will be hosted by comedian Jon Reep.
