Join others who will brave the frigid waters of Rolater Lake (formerly the Cave Spring Pool) on January 1, 2013, at the Cave Spring Polar Plunge, to help raise money for the purchase and restoration of the Cherokee Log Cabin! Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Jump in at 11:00 a.m. for only $25! Who will you sponsor, or who can you get to sponsor you?! If you don’t want to jump, send your substitute! Afterwards warm up with a traditional New Year’s lunch in the historic Hearn Classroom Building also on the grounds of Rolater Park. Share your experience with other jumpers, and locals who couldn’t believe you’d do it! While you’re in Cave Spring, enjoy seeing over 85 structures that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Green Hotel, which surrounds the Cherokee Cabin. Bring your empty jugs to fill them up with the pure water rushing out of the Cave. Stay over in one of our B & B’s, spend your Christmas money in the upscale or antique shops, and walk through the Welcome Center and Museum to view early Cave Spring and surrounding history. The deadline for your choice of t-shirt size is December 19. The chilly event is sponsored by the Cave Spring Historical Society. Cave Spring is located on Highway 411 between Rome, Georgia and Centre, Alabama. For applications go to cavespringhistoricalsociety.com, or contact Mike Ragland, mrag@bellsouth.net, 706-777-3299, or Winnie Morrow: webmorrow@gmail.com, 706-777-8542. Online registration deadline: Dec. 29, 2012
