FRIENDS OF NEW ECHOTA QUARTERLY GENERAL MEETING: On Thursday, July 26, 6:30 pm, Friends of New Echota (FONE) will hold their quarterly General Meeting in the theater at New Echota State Historic Site. The program speaker is Heather Mustonen, archaeologist with the Environmental Services Section of Georgia Department of Transportation and Project Coordinator for the Hwy 225 New Echota Historic Corridor project. She will present an overview of the Historic Corridor project and the recent archaeological survey done in the area of the Hwy 225 boat ramp from Nov 2011 thru Apr 2012. Everyone is invited to attend. Friends of New Echota is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization operating as a chapter of Friends of Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites.
